Karla Miranović: Between Science, Intuition, and Modern Life

At a time when the boundaries between science, art, and spirituality are becoming increasingly intertwined, new voices are emerging that bring depth, credibility, and contemporary relevance back to astrology. Among them is the young, academically trained astrologer Karla Miranović, who has built her professional and personal identity at the intersection of psychology, culture, and modern lifestyle expression. Educated at the prestigious Faculty of Astrological Studies in London and holding a degree in the humanities from Maastricht University, Karla belongs to a generation that views astrology not as a series of simplified horoscopes, but as a complex symbolic language of personal growth and self-understanding. Her work brings together analytical thinking and intuition, ethics and creativity, as well as a strong interest in fashion and contemporary culture. In the conversation that follows, Karla discusses skepticism, the limitations of artificial intelligence, ethics in client work, and the future of astrology in a world that increasingly values both authenticity and responsibility.

A New Generation of Astrology

How do you deal with skepticism toward astrology, especially in the academic or rationalist environments where you studied and worked?

Astrology has existed for thousands of years, but it was only during the twentieth century that it became widely popularized-primarily through newspaper forecasts for the twelve Sun signs. This media representation led many people to view astrology as a simple system of categorizing individuals into twelve signs. While the signs are certainly significant, they are only one factor in astrological analysis, making this understanding of astrology extremely simplified and incomplete. Although skeptics are not my primary audience, through my work and media appearances I strive to highlight the complexity and psychological depth of astrology. I believe that this field of knowledge-and what it can offer, particularly in terms of personal development-deserves a more serious approach than it often receives.

How important is ethics in working with clients? Can you de scribe a situation where it was challenging to remain an honest astrologer and how you handled it?

For the well-being of clients, astrologers, and astrology as a discipline, engaging with astrological ethics is essential. As a graduate astrologer of the Faculty of Astrological Studies in London, I was required to sign a code of ethics that, among other things, addresses the proper relationship between astrologer and client within the context of a consultation.

I firmly believe that astrologers should never assume responsibility for resolving a client’s dilemmas, making decisions on their behalf, or in any way disregarding the client’s free will and ability to actively shape their own life. It is important to me to make this position clear before a consultation even takes place, so that clients understand what they can expect.

Thanks to this level of transparency, I have not found myself in potentially problematic situations regarding astrological ethics. Unfortunately, many people practice astrology by offering overly simplified and one-dimensional interpretations, potentially limiting a client’s freedom of action. I therefore make a conscious effort to distinguish my approach from such practices.

In an era of revolutionary technological advances and tools, many people have embraced the quick and easy solutions of fered by artificial intelligence. In astrology, AI is currently known to struggle with connecting contradictory elements within a chart. Do you think technology will ever be able to replace hu man intuition in astrology?

At present, AI can provide a good analysis of individual factors within a natal chart, but it struggles to integrate seemingly contradictory elements into a meaningful whole. Astrology is a language of multi-layered symbols, and it is precisely this multitude of meanings and potential combinations of astrological factors that reflects its complexity. The astrologer’s role is crucial in this regard, and I believe it will be difficult to replicate artificially. Furthermore, when discussing the context of an astrological consultation, we should not overlook the importance of dialogue and the creative exchange that develops between astrologer and client. Through this dialogue, the astrological chart comes to life and takes on new meaning. While direct human interaction is not strictly necessary to generate an astrological analysis, the intuitive understanding and emotional intelligence involved in personal contact set it apart qualitatively from AI-generated interpretations.

Your work also involves art and culture. How does this creative background influence your interpretation of natal charts?

I graduated in the field of humanities and culture at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. I believe one of the benefits of this type of education is a greater openness to different lifestyles, values, and definitions of personal achievement. This openness to a wide range of perspectives and ways of living is important for astrologers, so that they do not present their own beliefs and assumptions as the only correct path. Through both astrology and cultural studies, one becomes aware of the complexity and beauty of diverse life paths and the development of individual creative potential. On another level, I connect astrology and culture not only through the analysis of individual astrological potentials but also through the study of society, particularly regarding trends in creative expression, art, and fashion. This also relates to my interest in fashion, which developed partly naturally, given that my mother, Anastazija, works as a fashion designer. From an astrological perspective, I analyze current developments in the fashion world. This has led to collaborations with fashion publications through writing articles and creating content on these topics.

You are at the beginning of your career. How do you envision your development over the next ten years: more as a practi tioner, educator, or perhaps a researcher of astrology?

All of these roles are extremely interesting to me. The highly respected diploma from the Faculty of Astrological Studies in London, one of the leading institutions for astrological education worldwide, opens many opportunities in both education and research. Recently, I had the opportunity to deliver a lecture in London on astrology and personal development at the Faculty of Astrological Studies itself, as well as to collaborate with renowned astrological publications such as The Astrological Journal, published by the Astrological Association of Great Britain. Writing about astrology, connecting astrology with themes from culture and fashion, public speaking and lectures, working with clients, and educational activities are all areas in which I wish to continue growing and deepening my work in the years ahead.
